The Coalition believes Labor minister Ed Husic must 'seriously consider his position' after saying Palestinians in Gaza were 'being collectively punished' by Israel.
Jason Clare and Sussan Ley clash after two federal Labor ministers broke ranks saying Palestinians were being 'collectively punished' for Hamas barbarism
"I think it's really important that... we contribute to international voices speaking up for Palestinians, particularly innocent Palestinian families — 3,000 of which have already lost their lives — to say there has got to be a more strategic and precise way to hold Hamas to account but not affect innocent Palestinian families," he told ABC RN.
Fellow Labor minister Anne Aly backed Mr Husic, saying it was"difficult to argue" that Palestinians were not being"collectively punished" and suggested Israel could be investigated if it had committed any war crimes during the conflict. Ms Ley flagged there is a"real problem", arguing Mr Husic has to"correct" his remarks or he should"seriously consider his position".
