THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay has opened a call for nominations for the 12th annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards, as it looks to recognize citizens and organizations who have worked to make the city safer and more equitable.
Residents can learn more about the awards and make nominations until Friday, Oct. 7 at the city’s website.Recipients receive an official certificate recognizing their award-winning work, and will also be featured in a short video documenting their achievements. Last year’s awards honoured elder Ma-Nee Chacaby, Cornelius Beaver, the care bus initiative, the Indigenous Food Circle, Matawa’s safe sobering site, and the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council’s on-call crisis response service.“We are proud to present these awards once again,” said Jeff Upton, chair of Community Safety & Well-Being Thunder Bay. “It is important for us to recognize those who are making a difference in our community.
