The city issued more than $250 million in building permits last year.
The City of Prince George issued $251.7 million in building permits in 2022 – a roughly five per cent increase over 2021’s record-setting year.
The city issued a total of 476 building permits last year, including 14 new commercial buildings worth a combined $37.5 million, 34 new industrial buildings worth a combined $36.8 million, 22 multi-family developments worth a combined $73.8 million and 123 new single-family homes, mobile homes and duplexes worth a combined $62.8 million.
“It’s comforting to know commercial and industrial investors continue to have faith in Prince George,” said Mayor Simon Yu. “This $250 million milestone is an important one because it tells us they understand there’s long-term investment opportunity here. This recognition will help us develop a city and community worthy of being called B.C.’s northern capital.”
The value of building permits issued by the city has set new record highs for several consecutive years. In 2021 the city issued a total of 460 permits worth a combined $237.2 million and in 2020 the city issued 532 permits worth a combined $220.99 million.
