SINGAPORE: Two residents living in an HDB flat in Choa Chu Kang escaped after a massive blaze erupted in their kitchen on Friday morning . .
The Singapore Civil Defence Force has said it was alerted to the fire, which erupted within a fourth-floor unit in Block 803A Keat Hong Close, around 10 am. Firefighters from Clementi Fire Station and Bukit Batok Fire Station swiftly entered the smoke-filled unit to combat the flames and extinguished the fire with two water jets.
Fortunately, before the SCDF’s arrival, two individuals managed to evacuate the affected unit. As a precautionary measure, the police facilitated the evacuation of approximately 40 residents from neighbouring units to ensure their safety. SCDF said a paramedic assessed one person from the affected unit for smoke inhalation.
