'Any wrong move that goes against the trend of history... will suffer its own consequences,” Beijing warned the U.S.

and Malaysia in the past two days as part of her visit to the region, which also includes Japan and South Korea. Last Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned his American counterpart Joe Biden in a phone call against any interference in Taiwan affairs.

Here is the full statement by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on Pelosi's visit issued through Chinese state media: “On August 2, US House of Representatives Speaker Pelosi visited Taiwan, China, despite China's firm opposition. This move seriously violates the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, seriously violates the basic norms of international relations, seriously undermines the political foundation of China-US relations, and seriously damages China-US relations. It is a major political provocation to China.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. The Taiwan issue is China's internal affairs. We firmly oppose all attempts and actions to split China, firmly oppose any external force interfering in China's peaceful reunification process, and will never allow any country to interfere in the Taiwan issue in any way.
