Sky News Asia Correspondent Brent O’Halloran says China hasn’t provided many details on what it has described as strike drills in the air and sea around Taiwan.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, eight Chinese jets and three ships were detected near its territory yesterday.

The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army said it had “carried out joint combat redness patrols and joint firepower strike drills” around Taiwan, though it did not provide specific locations. “This is a resolute response to current escalations of collusions and provocation from the United States and Taiwan.”
