BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping criticised the US for what he called 'interference' in China's internal affairs in a phone call with President Trump, the official news agency Xinhua reported on Saturday (Dec 21).

Xi used the phone call to express"serious concerns over the US side's recent negative words and actions" regarding Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet, Xinhua reported. Xi told Trump that the United States had"interfered in China's internal affairs and harmed China's interests," according to Xinhua.

China said it hopes the United States will"seriously implement the important consensuses reached by the two leaders over various meetings and phone conversations.”
