Beijing is on course to achieve its five per cent economic growth target for 2023, says Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the World Economic Forum meeting.

hitting back against US and EU policy aimed at reducing their reliance on China.

"These two concepts ... are a false proposition, because the development of economic globalisation is such that the world economy has become a common entity in which you and I are both intermingled," he said in a wide-ranging speech calling for deepening economic globalisation and cooperation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in January described the EU's approach to China as"de-risking rather than decoupling" since the bloc still sought to work and trade with Beijing.

"But at the same time," he said,"it's not in our interest to provide technology to China that could be used against us."China is on course to achieve its five per cent target for economic growth in 2023 set by Beijing earlier this year, Li also told the audience at the forum, which is being attended by leaders from New Zealand, Mongolia, Vietnam and Barbados, as well as a large delegation from Saudi Arabia.

China is grappling with a slowing post-COVID recovery, with a number of lacklustre indicators in recent weeks signalling the rebound is running out of steam.
