"Based on who the alleged complainant is in this matter, we are seeking to have the matter moved to Judge Orr's court," said Crown attorney Jeff MacDonald in provincial court in Charlottetown to Chief Judge Jeff Lantz in the matter of Mark Anthony Brown.Lantz said he thought the Crown would have already transferred the matter prior to the court appearance.
According to information previously released by Charlottetown Police Services, the alleged assault occurred on July 19 at a public information session at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. The information session was attended by the media, including Saltwire, and involved a proposed overdose prevention site on Park Street in Charlottetown. About 150 people attended the information session.
Video footage taken by members of the media shows Rob Lantz being shoved by a man. After an investigation, police charged Brown, 62, with assault. The assault allegation has not been proven in court.Judge Lantz agreed to the Crown motion and adjourned Brown's matter to the afternoon of Sept. 6 in provincial court before Judge Nancy Orr.
