The fastest EV charger in downtown Kuala Lumpur is finally online. ChargEV's Kempower 225kW DC Chargers at Berjaya Times Square currently cost RM1.20 per kWh during the trial period.
ChargEV has also announced a promo where members can enjoy 20% or 50% off their first Grande Handcrafted Beverage purchased in a single receipt at Starbucks when they use the AC or DC chargers, respectively. To enjoy this offer, just show your ChargEV membership ID on your phone to redeem it at the counter. This promo is valid for two weeks in conjunction with the soft launch of their chargers.
From our recent experience with ChargEV’s latest DC Chargers at Berjaya Times Square, the new Kempower units can charge a Kia EV6 fromwith a total of 36kWh utilised. We managed to get over 230kW maximum charging rate until 50% before it starts to dip gradually to 160kW. Based on the current trial rate of RM1.20 per kWh, this 36kWh charge would have cost us RM43.20 and it provided us with an additional top-up of over 200km of driving range.
Take note that the actual charging speed depends on your EV’s maximum DC charging rate and the current state of charge. For example, the BYD Atto 3 Extended range could only take a maximum charging rate of 70kW while the Mazda MX-30 EV can only take DC charging up to 50kW. Typically, the maximum charging speed can only be achieved when the EV’s battery percentage is below 50%.
