Change to census question raises concerns over language data, expert says
The percentage of people speaking French as their first language continues to fall in Quebec, leading to anxiety over the future of the language
New data from the census indicate that although the number of Quebecers who speak French as their first official language is on the increase, it’s falling in percentage terms. Premier Legault is calling it worrying and says it justifies passing Bill 96.
