The MMFF was conceptualized by the legendary action star and Sen. Jinggoy's namesake and father when he was still mayor of San Juan during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Reflecting on his father's vision, Sen. Jinggoy shared, 'Back then, foreign films dominated theaters. So my father thought that only Tagalog films should be shown during the Christmas season.
