Cebu Pacific welcomed 120 aspiring Filipina aviators at its Training Academy for Girls in Aviation Day, encouraging women to pursue aviation and aerospace careers.

Cebu Pacific hosted 120 aspiring young Filipina aviators at its Training Academy, known as TRAAC, in Manila on Saturday for this year's Girls in Aviation Day, an event aimed at encouraging women to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace. The annual international initiative is organized by Women in Aviation International and provides hands-on activities, learning sessions, and direct membership from industry professionals.

This year's event was led by Cebu Pacific's women's community, EmpowHER, in partnership with the Philippine chapter of Women in Aviation International, or WAI-PH.

Participants included daughters of employees from Cebu Pacific and its subsidiaries, 1Aviation and Aplus, alongside female students from Air Link International Aviation College, De La Salle University, Gat Andres Bonifacio High School, and Ignacio Villamor High School.

Girls in Aviation Day Promotes Careers

During the event, participants toured TRAAC to observe how flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and customer experience teams collaborate to manage daily airline operations. Female aviation professionals also shared their career insights and experiences with the young attendees.

Felix Lopez, Cebu Pacific Chief Human Resources Officer, said that building a stronger, more inclusive aviation workforce starts by helping young people see themselves in it. He added that by giving young women early exposure to the people, possibilities, and diverse careers behind an airline, the company can help them discover where their strengths can take them.

According to organizers, women remain underrepresented in technical and flight-related fields within the aviation sector. WAI-PH and its partners utilize Girls in Aviation Day to broaden career exposure and inspire the next generation of female talent.

Cebu Pacific Supports Women in Aviation

Cebu Pacific supported the event through its employee-led communities, allowing staff members to share industry experience and mentor young participants exploring aerospace careers. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to increase female representation in aviation roles.

The event provided participants with direct access to industry professionals and hands-on learning opportunities. It also highlighted the range of careers available within an airline, from flight operations to maintenance and customer experience.
