Cebu City Councilor Jerry Guardo proposes renting heavy equipment to accelerate road repairs across 80 barangays. The move aims to address a backlog of requests and improve road safety. The proposal will be funded through the 2025 budget and is expected to enhance ongoing maintenance efforts that began in late 2024.
THE Cebu City Government may rent heavy equipment to accelerate road asphalting works across 80 barangays. Councilor Jerry Guardo proposed the idea to Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia Tuesday night, Jan. 28, 2025, to support the Department of Engineering and Public Works teams in expediting road repairs.
According to Guardo, the DEPW is responsible for prioritizing roads and streets that are in poor or dilapidated condition and require immediate repairs. The City’s 2025 budget allocates P240 million for road paving and repairs, and Guardo assured that available resources will be used effectively to balance requests across the barangays.
