CEBU CITY — Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has put an end to street parties during the Sinulog Festival, issuing an executive order that enforces strict rules on public gatherings and business operations during the city's famed celebration.Through Executive Order 29, signed on Monday, Jan. 6, Garcia officially prohibited street parties and introduced firm regulations to uphold public safety, maintain peace and order, and preserve the solemnity of the festival.

The order came as Cebu City gears up for the highly anticipated event, signaling a clear message to partygoers to reconsider plans for large street gatherings.'The conduct of street party is strictly prohibited in any area within Cebu City from Jan. 18 to Jan. 19, 2025,' the order states.Garcia emphasized that public thoroughfares must remain clear to avoid disruptions, and ensure emergency and government services operate smoothly during the festival's busiest days.The order also bans concerts, gigs and other noisy activities during specific hours along the solemn procession and Sinulog parade routes.'The following activities are prohibited along the Solemn Procession Route and Sinulog Parade Route between 6 a.m. 8 p.m. of Jan. 18 (Saturday) and between 12:01 a.m. and 10 p.m. of Jan. 19 (Sunday), 2025,' Garcia declared.Establishments wishing to host such events outside the restricted hours must secure special permits, submit security plans and provide medical triage during their events.Beyond regulating festivities, the executive order compels businesses to open their restrooms to the public, whether or not individuals are paying customers.Establishments must also keep their CCTV cameras operational and provide footage when required, as well as clean their premises and surrounding areas during and after operating hours.The liquor ban will also reshape how revelers celebrate Sinulog.The sale, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited along the procession route from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Ja
