Vision a defence lawyer fought to keep secret is released, showing two service station attendants being taken hostage near Newcastle, and one faking pregnancy in order to be freed.

Emergency warnings are in place for fires burning near Dalveen, The Glen, Silverwood, Cherry Gully and the Atherton Tablelands near Cairns in QLD.A judge has released CCTV footage showing the moment two service station attendants were taken hostage, including one who faked pregnancy so she could be freed.

But defence barrister Mr Hussey argued the agreed facts set out entirely what happened, and the danger of unfair prejudice was high.He asked, "What utility is there in tendering the CCTV?" and suggested playing the almost 10 minutes of footage would be a waste of the court's time. Judge Peter McGrath agreed and said the footage could assist the court to determine the objective seriousness of Wright's offending.
