ABC Radio Brisbane asked its listeners to enter portraits of Costa Georgiadis for this year's Bradley. There were so many masterpieces he was relieved he wasn't a judge.
What's next?When ABC Radio Brisbane challenged its listeners to capture the wild inner beauty of Gardening Australia presenter Costa Georgiadis , more than 450 people rose to the occasion.The youngest entrant was three years old and the eldest was 92. Styles varied from classical hyperrealism to avant-garde postmodernity and everything in between."I'd be in the fetal position crying because I couldn't decide," Costa said.
"I'm shaking, and I'm overwhelmed because I follow you, Costa, and I've seen the photos you've been posting of these amazing works of art," Ms Jardine said. Other entries include one made entirely from Lego, which, from one angle, shows Costa with his trademark beard and, from another angle, shows him cleanly shaven.Another entry depicts Costa made from recycled scrap metals, and another was crafted from twigs, leaves and bits of bark.
“You can feel the love for Costa Georgiadis rippling around the country in the form of paint and ceramics and felt and wood and recycled pieces,” she said.Some of the station's favourite entries will hang at the ABC's Brisbane 24-hour office at 114 Grey Street, South Bank, from August 3 to 25.You're invited to paint a portrait of Costa Georgiadis
