“You always want to be in a position to add and you always want to be in a position to make your team better,” Cardinals veteran infielder Matt Carpenter said. Fedde was selected by Washington in the first round of the 2014 amateur draft. He is 28-37 with a 4.92 ERA in 123 big league games, including 109 starts.
The 28-year-old Kopech moved back to the bullpen this season and is 2-8 with a 4.74 ERA, nine saves and 59 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings.
