Canberra-Goulbourn Archdiocese’s Vicar General Father Tony Percy says Cardinal George Pell was a “very thoughtful” and “very compassionate person”.
Australia’s most senior Catholic died aged 81 in Rome on Tuesday after suffering an unexpected heart attack.
“He loved banter and loved quipping, and he was very entertaining, and very thoughtful at times, very compassionate as well, very generous actually to people in need,” he told Sky News Australia. “People would come to him for personal needs because they were struggling in their families and George, out of his own resources, would be very generous to them, he was that sort of guy.”
