“It was also amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes,” she said. “We were third to be taped, so we got a chance to watch the first four teams compete. For the half-hour you see on TV, they actually tape two hours of content. They were doing 10 hours of filming on a Sunday.” Added Roach: “I’ve been a Gerry Dee fan for a long time. I’ve been to all of his shows when he performed at the Savoy Theatre and at Centre 200. And, of course, I was a follower of his TV show, 'Mr. D.' He’s just such an expert at his craft. And that was just the first phase. Bradbury said there were a total of four phases she and the group had to go through before finally being selected.
