Joanna, a native of California, describes herself as a voice actor, audiobook narrator, and writer who worked in broadcasting before launching her recording and voiceover career in 2010.The couple ventured to the east coast first living in Larry’s River, Guysborough County, before going to Isle Madame, Richmond County, and then settling in French Cove.
Charlie and Joanna would later become friends with members of Martell’s extended family — his sister, Bernadette, and her husband Alvin and daughter Lisa — who further sparked the couple’s curiosity that resulted in the launch of the Acadian Project. “We are all growing older, so our biggest priority is to compile the information in a digital format and to make it available to everyone so that the rich Acadian heritage will never be forgotten,” said Joanna.
