Cape Breton incidents result in RCMP commendations

According to a news release, RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme joined Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley, commanding officer of the Nova Scotia RCMP, to present Commissioner's Commendation Awards to recipients at a private ceremony held last week at RCMP Nova Scotia headquarters in Dartmouth.

Ryan Mangrove: Shortly after midnight on Sept. 5, 2021, Mangrove was off duty at his Arichat residence when he heard a loud noise, the release said. He went outside to investigate and saw a pickup truck in the ditch; it was heavily damaged and on fire.

Firefighter Scott Buchannan was the initial first responder on scene; he immediately went into the cavern below the falls to rescue the two people.
