Brett MacKinnon of Glace Bay was recently named the Nova Scotia Golf Association men’s amateur player of the year for his success on the greens this past season. McKinnon plays out of Ashburn Golf Club in Windsor Junction. CONTRIBUTED/NOVA SCOTIA GOLF ASSOCIATIONSYDNEY – For the second straight year, a Cape Breton golfer has been named the Nova Scotia Golf Association’s amateur player of the year.
McKinnon, a member of Ashburn Golf Club in Windsor Junction, opened the season by winning the Apple Blossom tournament at KenWo Golf Club in New Minas. McKinnon also represented the province at the Canadian men’s mid-amateur championship at Thornhill Golf and Country Club in Thornhill, Ont., where he finished tied for sixth place in the field.
