Time off due to an injury earlier this season proved to be a benefit beyond getting his body healthy as it gave him time to reset mentally.

“You have to understand yourself before you can address other stuff. It was definitely the first time I had to deal with an injury like that, in the middle of the year,” he added. “It’s just a little bit of adversity to go through. Seems like I’m on the other side of it and I’m much better off.”Article content

“That was a weird couple of hours,” he revealed with a grin. “Obviously, with news like that, hockey’s not important. There’s more important things in life.
