He had been a hard-working centre in the Swedish Hockey League for Leksands, but never scored much with just 10 goals in 110 games over the past three seasons. Those kinds of players don’t often make the step right into the NHL.He could be one of two Swedish rookies for the Canucks this season, alongside Linus Karlsson, who scored 46 points in 52 games for Skelleftea last season and was named the rookie of the year in the SHL.
At the time, Karlsson was considered a very long-shot prospect. But he’s clearly put in the work since then and has grabbed the eye of his new coach. Aman has been in the mix on the Canucks’ checking line, while Karlsson has seen plenty of ice time alongside J.T. Miller. That both Karlsson and Aman are still in the roster mix on the eve of the regular season is a bit of a surprise, head coach Bruce Boudreau admitted.
