Miller, 29, has been on a roll of late with 12 points in his last 11 games and is tied for second in club scoring with 54 points , including nine power-play goals. He has become a first penalty-kill fixture with Elias Pettersson and has often spoke about wanting to do his part to get the Canucks to another level.Article content
Miller’s seven-year, US$56 million contract extension kicks in next season. It carries an $8 million annual salary cap hit and is front-loaded with total salaries of $9.5 millions, $9 million and $9 million in the first three years. It includes a no-movement clause in the first four years, followed by a modified no-trade. His expiring deal does not have trade protection.
It’s not the first time Miller has been linked to a possible trade in advance of the trade deadline. A year ago, the New York Rangers were pushing for a reunion with their former winger. They were willing to part with centre Filip Chytil, who then found his game, a prospect and a first-round pick.
