Jessie Gould pleaded guilty to more than 30 charges in the ACT Magistrates court related to a string of thefts in Canberra's north, after being caught by police hiding in a wardrobe following his failure to turn up to court.
Jessie Gould was sentenced to four months for each of the burglary charges, with a further 12 months to be served on a suspended sentence.A Canberra man identified by fingerprints on a stolen car's steering wheel and DNA on knuckledusters in a broken-into car has been freed by the ACT Magistrates Court .
Jessie Gould had spent nine months in custody waiting for sentence on more than 30 charges, after a string of thefts in July 2023, many from several apartment car parks in Canberra's north. One victim lost $10,000 in tools, others lost laptops, wallets and passports, along with house keys and garage remote controls.Gould used one person's bank card multiple times in the early hours of the morning at various service stations, where he bought energy drinks, a meat pie and spent several hundred dollars on cigarettes.
"I need to send a message to you and others that this type of offending is not acceptable," Magistrate Burt said.
