Following the departure of Andrew Gee from the Nationals over the party’s stance on the Voice to Parliament, the Liberals are split on adopting a formal position.

Speaking to Sky News Australia, Mr Canavan wouldn’t be drawn into commenting on the senior Coalition party’s stance but insisted the Nationals are united. He argued the constraints of the party room would prohibit him from openly holding a contrarian view. After publicly breaking ranks on the issue, Mr Gee said he felt he didn’t have the “unfettered freedom” to speak out.
