Searches related to sleep reached an all-time high in early 2023, according to data from Google Canada.

The company shared Canadians’ top search questions and queries related to sleep and dreams ahead of World Sleep Day on March 17, a day which raises awareness about the importance of sleep for physical, mental, and social well-being. The analysis from Google shows Canadians are worried about the amount of sleep they need. “How many hours of sleep do I need?” was the third most popular search query, while questions about whether six or seven hours of shut-eye each night was enough also made it on the top 10 list., released in October 2020, adults age 18 to 64 should get seven to nine hours of sleep each night, while those age 65 and over should be sleeping for seven to eight hours.

The Google report also found Canadians are searching about their dreams, asking about what it means to dream of someone and how to control dreams, or lucid dream. The analysis further revealed searches about specific dreams. At the top, are queries about “teeth falling out dreams,” followed by “dreaming about your ex.”2. What is sleep apnea?6.
