Children’s health system capacity across multiple care settings in Canada is in critical condition. Shortages of essential medicines, spikes in respiratory and viral illnesses, and surges in urgent and emergent care volumes have resulted in the total shutdown of surgical and procedural capacity as resources necessarily shifted to deal with a historic crisis.
