Canadian gold miner Agnico Eagle Mining is understood to be one of the parties kicking tyres at bankrupt WA gold producer Wiluna Mining.

Street Talk understands Agnico had taken a look at Wiluna ahead ofWere Agnico to firm up its early interest into a bid, it would be taking on Wiluna’s decent-sized resource but also a big development bill.

Were it to go ahead and make a bid, Agnico would be returning to Australian resources dealmaking after a short break. In February, it ruled off a “merger of equals” with Kirkland Lake Gold, which was listed in Toronto, New York and on the ASX, and needed approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board .
