Burnaby Blues + Roots has announced this year's lineup, with Buffy Sainte-Marie headlining, with more artists including Allison Russell, The Dip, Boy Golden and The Trade Offs.
The Burnaby Blues + Roots festival has announced legendary musician Buffy Sainte-Marie as this year's headliner.
Sainte-Marie, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist, known for her 1964 anti-war anthem "Universal Soldier," was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005, and has won multiple awards including an Academy Award. This outdoor festival will have food trucks and a family zone. Beer and wine service will be available for the 19+ crowd.
With more performances by Grammy-nominated artist Allison Russell; pop, rhythm and blues group The Dip; hymn-jammer Boy Golden; Arctic soul band The Trade Offs with lyrics blending Inuktitut and English; and more, this year's festival promises to be one to remember.The event has a capacity of 9,000 attendees and will not be ticketed.Burnaby Blues + Roots festival When: Saturday, Aug. 12, gates open at 1 p.m., opening act at 2 p.m., event runs til 10 p.m.
