Loonie at 73.26 U.S. cents
strengthened to a five-day high against its U.S. counterpart on Tuesday as easing of banking sector stress reduced demand for safe-haven assets and ahead of the presentation of Canada’s budget.
U.S. crude prices were up 0.1 per cent to $72.91 a barrel, while yields on U.S. Treasuries rose and the U.S. dollar lost ground against a basket of major currencies.
