Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is in Ottawa meeting with the city’s mayor, Mark Sutcliffe, afterThe “Deadpool” star posted a photo Thursday on Twitter and Instagram showing him alongside Sutcliffe and Chris Bratty, president of The Remington Group, a Toronto-area real estate developer that has reportedly teamed up with the actor to bid for the NHL franchise.
The image shows the three men standing under the City of Ottawa’s coat of arms, with Reynolds’s arm around Sutcliffe.reported that Reynolds, who grew up in Vancouver but spent time in the Ottawa area, was interested in buying the hockey team in the nation’s capital. The actor confirmed later that month on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” that the report was true.
“I would categorize both meetings as very constructive and an opportunity to get better acquainted, and to make sure the lines of communication are open,” Bettman said earlier this week. He offered few details about the sale of the NHL franchise but confirmed that about half a dozen candidates were still in the mix to purchase the club.
“Hopefully once the lawyers get their hands on doing what needs to be done with whoever the successful bidder is, then once we go through the league’s approval process, we’re looking at sometime in early or midsummer to complete the process,” Bettman said.Chris Johnston of NorthStar Bets reported in December“He’s very smart,” Bettman said of Reynolds at the time. “He has a number of businesses besides the acting business and he understands sports and he understands promotion.
