Supreme court justice Russell Brown says allegations of misconduct are false but investigation has placed strain on family

A Canadian supreme court judge under investigation for his alleged involvement in a drunken fight has resigned, marking the first time a member of the top court has resigned amid questions of misconduct.

The veteran told reporters that Brown had been drunk and made women at the resort feel uncomfortable. Brown denied this, saying the veteran was intoxicated and had punched him several times in the face without warning. “Because the allegations made against me are false, I had hoped the issue would be dispensed with quickly … sadly, that has not been the case,” he said in a statement on Monday.

‘Prince Barry’: Reenactment of Harry’s court trial a ‘fairly accurate’ portrayal‘Prince Barry’: Reenactment of Harry’s court trial a ‘fairly accurate’ portrayalThe dramatic reenactment of Prince Harry’s court trial was “fairly accurate” in portraying how the Duke of Sussex tried to “pull at the heartstrings” of the judge, says writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue. 'People online have been saying it’s not Prince Harry but Prince Barry because of the nature of the re-enactment,' Ms Krakue told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio. “I think ‘theatre’ is the right way to describe it and I mean, it’s … fairly accurate in the way that Prince Harry was trying to pull at the heartstrings, or tug at the heartstrings of the judge in this particular case but unfortunately that’s not how a courtroom works. “A courtroom works based on facts and not your feelings.”

UK ‘shocked’ at Prince Harry’s court case against Mirror Group NewspapersUK ‘shocked’ at Prince Harry’s court case against Mirror Group NewspapersWriter and broadcaster Esther Krakue says the UK’s reaction to Prince Harry’s court case against the Mirror Group newspapers is shocked. “He actually missed the first day of the trial because he was celebrating his daughter Lilibet’s second birthday, and the judge was very not amused by that because he felt it was just not the proper thing to do,” Ms Krakue told Sky News Reporter Danica De Giorgio. “People are shocked mainly because of the fact that he could actually be on the stand and say that he’s actually there to find out whether a lot of these stories were as a result of phone hacking when he’s brought the case saying that ‘you have engaged in phone hacking and unlawful conduct’. “I think there’s a certain level of delusion that I suspect was what drove Prince Harry to do this and the other people suing the MGN Group.”
