Then his wrist healed, finally, and he realized he had been using a series of bad sticks. He found his confidence again and the second half of the 2021-22 season was as good as he’s ever played for the Canucks. He scored 32 goals, a career high, and had 68 points, another career high.Confidence, he told reporters a month ago, is everything. It’s clear he believes this season to come will be his best yet. He’s feeling stronger. He knows the NHL better than ever.
Pettersson will need a new deal in two seasons’ time. He’s the youngest of the three pivots currently under contract with Vancouver and still has room to grow his game.
