Calgary Stampeders defensive back Tre Roberson says he's '100% ready to go' CFL

The Stamps are going to be careful with Roberson through training camp. They’ll give him days off when needed as he ramps up his workload and gets back into game shape, but the expectation is that he’s going to be an every-day player for the team this season.Because even in his short stint on the field last season, Roberson provided a reminder of what he was considered arguably the league’s top shutdown corner in his first CFL stint, back in 2018 and ’19.

The next season, he was even better. He finished the year with seven interceptions, but most of them came in the early going before teams figured out not to throw the ball his way. He also had 12 knockdowns, scored two touchdowns and saved a win for the Stamps in a game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with a legitimately ridiculous blocked field goal.

The Stamps know what Roberson brings when he’s on the field, so the focus is just making sure he’s ready to stay out there when the regular season kicks off. Once he gets on the field, though, Roberson’s goals are pretty simple. He was generally pretty excellent last season, making 17 tackles, one forced fumble and three knockdowns. He only had one interception, though, albeit one that he returned for 66 yards.“I only played five games, I got one,” Roberson said. “Teams are a little cautious when they throw the ball to me. Once I get more reps in, play more games, the picks will come.
