Savage had argued a lack of insurance coverage was a legally relevant consequence noting provincial legislation would result in enforcement of a judgment against his client.“In Mr. Safronov’s case, the lawsuit against him is a private matter initiated by the complainant,” she said. “Mr. Safronov took the risk and pleaded guilty anyway so that he could take advantage of the plea bargain which would see him pleading to the least serious charge,” Pepper said.
