ICYMI: Calgary man facing 36 charges after police seize eight illegal guns, drugs yyc
Police say they began investigating an individual believed to be tied to organized crime and the local drug trade in December 2022, connecting two homes to the suspect. Luong is facing 36 charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession for use in production of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Police say seven of the firearms were smuggled into Canada and the eighth was stolen. Investigators are continuing to probe the origin of the guns.
