The key question is: what order do we seek to achieve through dialogue? What I have stated time and again is that the rules-based international order is a fundamental interest of both Japan and Australia and the international community as a whole. Given that Japan was subject to similar coercion in 2010, this is why we have continued to insist that “Australia is not walking alone”.
