DESPITE losing an arm in an accident 23 years ago, Kalaichelvan Govindaraju became a successful businessman, and he is now using part of his profits to help train future football stars, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Kalaichelvan, 33, of Seberang Prai, Penang, said he had nearly fallen into depression thinking about his future.

However, with the support of his mother and later his wife, he started his own sundry shop business, which took off six years ago. Wanting to diversify his business, Kalaichelvan applied to start a car wash on land owned by the state government. An intervention by Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy eventually helped him get the approval after four yeras of rejection.The businessman said part of the profits from the car wash will go towards the Butterworth Rangers Football Club, which he founded.Article type: free
