PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. addressed key issues during his State of the Nation Address , particularly the matter of Philippine offshore gaming operators , but also failed to mention other critical concerns, business groups said on Monday.Marcos' announcement of a ban on operations of POGOs — firms that offer online gambling services to markets outside the country — 'was the most applauded part of the SONA ,' Makati Business Club Executive Director Roberto Batungbacal said.
Approval of the Freedom of Information bill, in particular, is 'very important for governance,' Batungbacal said.Still, he said, 'We like the way there's continuity from the previous SONA, and the President is also candid about what's not working well.'The PCCI's Guerrero, meanwhile, urged for a more comprehensive approach with regard to issues such as wage hikes and agricultural sustainability.
