Pan Malaysia Bus Operators Association president Ashfar Ali says many have been running at a loss after the enforcement of the movement control order during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The current monthly subsidised diesel quotas for express buses and interim stage buses stand at 2,880 litres and 1,440 litres, respectively.

“The bus providers’ income has been decreasing, leading to situations where they cannot offer suitable wages to drivers,” he said in a statement. “Reduced diesel prices and increased monthly subsidised diesel quotas can also help operators sustain their operations.”
