“I don’t know what to do,” said one father through tears, holding his toddler in his arms. “For this to happen in a daycare … it’s unbelievable.” Pierre Ny St-Amand, 51, of Laval, appeared before a Quebec Court judge at the Laval courthouse late Wednesday afternoon through a very unusual video-conference connecting the Laval courthouse with Sacré-Coeur Hospital.

“Their lives are not in danger right now,” he said. “We are going to give them the best care to allow them to recuperate and get back to a normal life.” Legault said he and opposition leaders will visit Laval Thursday so they can offer their support to families and staff affected by the tragedy. Daycare places have already been found in nearby centres for parents who need them in the coming days.
