“This year’s recipients are impressive, not simply because of their outstanding contributions to their communities but also because of the diversity of their achievements.'

After contributing to multiple Burnaby healthcare initiatives, William McCarthy is being recognized with one of the highest recognitions in B.C.

"William’s historic $21.4-million Jambor-McCarthy Legacy, at the time the largest single-beneficiary bequest in B.C.’s history, alongside his personal donations and advocacy, have profoundly advanced cancer research and patient care throughout the entire province," the release added. As of April 2024, the family has funded more than $30 million in cancer research, education and healthcare in B.C.
