Posted: Aug. 18, 2024 10:11AMFire engulfs a waterfront building on Harbour Road in Port Alberni on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024.
Around 9:30 a.m., a local resident who did not want to be named said the fire appeared to be spreading “fast,” adding, “It wasn’t there at 6 a.m. this morning, so it must have started around 8 a.m. or so. It’s going fast. There are four trucks down there.”When Greg Mollon got word of the fire, he pulled out his drone and captured aerial footage of the flames and a large plume of smoke.
It’s not clear if anyone was injured, and around noon Cross told CHEK News the fire was “still flaming.”
