One of Brisbane’s most exciting prospects will make his debut on Thursday, and coach Kevin Walters hopes it will mark a running battle with his own son.
The time has come for one of the Brisbane Broncos’ most exciting prospects to make his mark on the NRL, and coach Kevin Walters has thrown down the gauntlet to the incoming wunderkind.
“One of the things our performance staff have tried to do is put a bit more weight on him, so he can handle the rigours of the NRL. The Queensland Cup is a tough sport as well, and a tough game, but this is the next level for him. Heading into the campaign, pundits had questioned whether Brisbane could make a genuine run for the premiership without a recognised game-breaking hooker in their roster, particularly given Walters had come through the ranks as a five-eighth.Yet, the 29-year-old has defied expectations to play every game of the Broncos’ quest to top the table, scoring four tries and averaging 46 running metres a match.
