Darren had fished for 14 hours without a single bite. Then he changed bait.
A garbageman has landed what is believed the biggest freshwater fish ever caught on a rod in the United Kingdom.
It took Darren Reitz, 34, and three men 50 minutes to reel in the gigantic 64.4kg catfish from waters at Chigborough Lakes nature reserve in Essex.for 14 hours without a single nibble on April 27, but his luck changed when he switched his bait, he told the Darren Reitz had fished without luck for 14 hours before he pulled the 64.4kg catfish out of an Essex lake "My friends started panicking as it was clearly a big fish and they were telling me how I should pull it out," he told the Telegraph.Reitz, who picked up fishing in 2017 after he was assaulted in a nightclub, said he was "over the moon" about landing the fish, which he nicknamed "Scar".
Reitz's monster 64.4kg fish is thought to be not only the biggest catfish caught in Britain but officially the biggest of any fish caught on a rod in freshwater in the UK.Reitz said he was delighted with the prize.Couple strike it rich after finding 400-year-old coins hidden under their kitchen floor.
