Pelé - also known globally as the king of football - died on Thursday (local time) surrounded by his close family in hospital, with his daughter sharing a final moving photo as the world mourns the loss of a legend.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known worldwide as Pelé, had been suffering from kidney and heart problems in the last several days.

"Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pelé, who peacefully passed away today," the lengthy caption read.
