Cronulla Sharks playmaker Braydon Trindall has been stood down after allegedly failing roadside illicit drugs and alcohol tests.Cronulla is next in action on Sunday when it faces Canberra, with Daniel Atkinson expected to take Trindall's spot in the side.

The Sharks said in a statement Trindall had been charged with failing the Monday morning tests, less than 24 hours after their round-seven win over North Queensland.He is awaiting a secondary sample of his drugs test. "The club, player and his management agree it is in Braydon's best interest to not participate in games or to train for the short term, most importantly to attend to his welfare and health issues."
